SEO Prompts for Claude and ChatGPT

Copy-and-paste SEO prompts for Claude and ChatGPT that use your real rankings, search volumes and site data, grouped by job, with what each costs.

Most lists of "SEO prompts" have the same flaw: they ask a chatbot for numbers it doesn't have. "Give me 20 high-volume, low-competition keywords for my bakery" gets a confident list where "high-volume" and "low-competition" are made up, because the model can't see search data.

The prompts below assume your assistant is connected to a live SEO data source, so every number in the answer comes from a real lookup. They're written for PandaCrawl's connector, which works with Claude on any plan and with ChatGPT on Business, Enterprise and Edu (Pro read-only). Setup for each is in Claude for SEO and ChatGPT for SEO.

Replace anything in [brackets]. Each prompt notes what it reads and what it costs: free means it uses your own Search Console, Bing, Google Analytics or a site crawl; paid means a keyword, SERP, competitor or backlink lookup, usually a few cents (what each costs).

Before anything else: give it the context once

The single prompt that improves every other answer. You don't need to know your key pages or your search competitors: PandaCrawl works those out from your Search Console, Analytics and a site crawl, and asks you to confirm. It only needs doing once per site.

Using PandaCrawl, we sell [what you sell] to [who buys it]. Work out the rest
from my data: suggest my key pages and the sites I compete with in Google,
show me what you found, and save it to my project once I confirm.
Searches that look relevant but aren't worth having: [examples, if any].

Without this, an assistant optimises for search volume, because volume is the only signal it has. With it, it can throw out big, irrelevant keywords before they reach your list.

Find the quick wins

Pages just off page one (free)

Using PandaCrawl, list my Search Console queries at positions 5–20 with at
least 20 impressions in the last 28 days. Group them by page and tell me which
three pages to improve first, and what to change on each.

Pages losing traffic (free)

Using PandaCrawl, compare my Search Console clicks for the last 28 days with
the 28 days before. Which pages lost the most clicks, and which queries did
they lose them on?

High impressions, low clicks (free)

Using PandaCrawl, find pages with plenty of Search Console impressions but a
click-through rate under 2%. For each, suggest a better title and meta
description that would earn the click.

Bing gaps (free)

Using PandaCrawl, check which of my key pages Bing hasn't indexed yet and
submit the missing ones.

Keyword research

Keywords you can actually win (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, research keywords around [topic]. Keep only ones with real
search volume and difficulty under [30], skip anything off-topic for my
business, and explain in one line why each is worth a page.

Questions people ask (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, find the questions people search about [topic]. Group them
by the page that should answer them, and flag any my site already ranks for.

Validate your own wording (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, here's how our customers describe their problem: [paste
phrases]. Check which of these phrasings get searched, and how often.

Turn a list into pages (paid if it needs fresh metrics)

Using PandaCrawl, take my saved keywords and group them into pages: one search
intent per page. For each group, give the main keyword, the page type
(guide, comparison, product page) and whether I already have a page for it.

Competitors

Who you're really up against (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, find the sites that rank alongside me for my main keywords.
Which of them are real competitors for my customers, and which just happen to
rank for the same words?

The keyword gap (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, find keywords that bring [competitor.com] traffic that I
don't rank for at all. Leave out their brand terms. Sort by what's realistic
for a site my size.

What their best pages do differently (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, find the pages that bring [competitor.com] the most
estimated search traffic.
For the three most relevant to my business, what do they cover that my
equivalent pages don't?

Where their links come from (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, look at [competitor.com]'s backlink profile. Which kinds of
sites link to them that could plausibly link to me too?

Fix your site

What to fix first (free)

Using PandaCrawl, run a site health check on [my site] and give me the three
problems worth fixing first, in plain English, with the affected pages.

Rewrite titles and descriptions in bulk (free)

Using PandaCrawl, read my latest site audit and rewrite every title and meta
description that's too long or too short, keeping the main keyword near the
start. Return a table with URL, current, proposed and character count.

Is this page indexed? (free)

Using PandaCrawl, inspect [URL] in Search Console. Is it indexed, which
canonical did Google choose, and if it isn't indexed, why not?

Page speed (paid, under 10 cents for a 10-page sample)

Using PandaCrawl, run a site audit on [my site] with page speed checks and
tell me which slow pages matter most, judged by their search traffic.

Write and improve content

A brief from the live results (paid)

Using PandaCrawl, look at who ranks on page one for [keyword] right now.
What do the top results cover, what do they all miss, and what would a page
need to be the best answer? Write that as a brief.

Refresh an existing page (free, plus one paid SERP lookup)

Using PandaCrawl, take [URL], check the Search Console queries it ranks for,
and compare it with the current top results for its main query. List what to
add, cut or reword.

Internal links (free)

Using PandaCrawl, from my latest site crawl, list orphan pages (no internal
links pointing to them) and suggest which of my other pages should link to
[URL], judging by their titles and topics.

AI visibility

Does AI recommend you? (paid; it shows the cost first)

Using PandaCrawl, set up AI visibility tracking for these questions my buyers
ask: [question 1], [question 2], [question 3]. Tell me the cost per run
before starting.

Who gets named instead (free once tracking has run)

Using PandaCrawl, from my AI visibility results, which competitors are named
most often instead of us, and which pages do the AI models cite for them?

Any brand, once (paid, about 60 cents on your own data account)

Using PandaCrawl, look up how ChatGPT and Google's AI answers mention
[brand or domain], and which pages they cite alongside it.

Reports

Monthly report (free)

Using PandaCrawl, write a one-page SEO report for [month]: search traffic,
ranking changes, site health and the three things to do next. Save it to
my Reports.

Client update in plain English (free)

Using PandaCrawl, summarise what changed for [site] since last month for a
client who isn't an SEO. No jargon; one paragraph on what happened, one on
what we'll do next.

What makes these prompts work

Every prompt above follows the same pattern, and it's worth copying when you write your own:

  1. Name the data source. "Using PandaCrawl" makes the assistant call the tool instead of answering from memory.
  2. One job per prompt. "Which three pages should I improve?" gets a decision; "do my SEO" gets a list of forty things.
  3. Constrain the output. A number to stop at, a difficulty ceiling, a table format. Constraints are how you get something you can act on today.
  4. Ask for the evidence. Volumes, positions, URLs. If a figure isn't from a lookup, it's a guess.
  5. Put a cost rule on big requests. "Tell me the cost before running anything paid" stops a broad question turning into hundreds of lookups.

And one rule for what you do with the answers: use them to make a few pages genuinely better, not to produce many near-identical ones. Google's guidance on generative AI content is clear that many pages produced without added value can breach its scaled content abuse policy, however they were written.
